Professional Goals:

After pursuing semi-professional baseball in New Zealand I realized that I wanted to make more of an impact on my world then sport allows for.  I realize that sport teaches wonderful life lessons, however I am aware that there are greater fights to fight right now in our society.  I have choosen a new path, one that deals with the complex earth systems that are providing for our every day existence.  I want to have an influence on policies that govern the way humans interact with these natural systems and have a positive influence on the future of domestic environmental policy.

New Zealand Experience:

I was lucky enough to sign a contract to play semi-professional baseball as well as coach a 12U team in New Zealand.  During my stay I also conducted baseball oriented lessons in 5 local primary schools for children aged 4-13.  This was an unbelieveable experience for me as it opened my eyes to a completley different part of the world and to different cultures.

Leadership/Extracurricular:

I have experienced many leadship roles in my academic career including being a participant on a varsity baseball team.  I was elected as a team captain in 2011 and enjoyed the role very much.  Being a role model for the younger players in an organization can be very rewarding as well as challenging

Criminal Law· In this course we looked into the basics of the Criminal Law system. The knowledge gained about procedural as well as substantive law was invaluable to my overall understanding of the law system. The language used in this course is also consistent with other policy courses.
